Cheap and New CH Eclipse Yoke
I live in Australia and am coming to the UK for 4 weeks very soon.
Whilst there I need to practice for my instrument rating doing many approaches in X-plane and I need a yoke.
Rather than bring my new CH Eclipse Yoke (bought 2 days ago) I was just looking at the prices of it in the UK thinking its probably cheap and I am staggered. GBP140 to GBP220 !!!
I just got one here for AUS$190 which is GBP104.
I am now thinking of bringing it with me and selling it at the end of my trip.
I cant take it home as I like to buy clothes in the UK and fill my bag. Clothes are expensive and cr*p here.
Would anyone be interesting in buying a hardly used yoke at the end of August. Lets say 80 quid. I will provide receipt and box (flattened)

Hi Andy and welcome to the forums
Yup.. the UK isn't cheap for this sort of thing. I made the mistake of buying a CH Pro Yoke and pedals from FSPS some years back as they were markedly cheaper than I could buy them here. Only problem was that when they turned up, I had an additional postal charge (handling!!!) to pay plus VAT which whopped a staggering £40 onto each item. To say my balloon had been burst is an understatement
Having paid that, they were still marginally cheaper than if I'd bought them here
Good luck with the instrument rating and good luck in selling on your Eclipse if you bring it with you. £80 for something like that is a bargain for the right person

Jeepers Andy!
You must be a darned good fighter. Price ranges from $AU240 to over $AU300 through normal channels.
Next time I need anything, I'll ask you to buy it for me.

Can you not just post it back to yourself?? A lot of people from the CI go to England where everythng is much cheaper, buy stuff and post it to themselves.

I wont post to Australia. Got ripped off last time by shipping agents in Australia.
I thought I could save money by picking it up at the shipping agent myself in Sydney.
It cost GBP100 to get it from Liverpool to the shipping agent in Sydney.
A further ripoff $240 to move it 30meters from their warehouse and into the boot of my car!
Call me me cynical if you like but I just wont do it.
I once moved my fullsize Bell47 helicopter and Pitts Special in a 40foot container back from NZ to Australia and they
wouldnt give me my goods without me paying $12k prior to container delivery. The COD quote was $6000
Thats Australian shipping agents for you! If I had to ship again it would be door to door and a fixed quote.

Locally there is a very very big difference between the two, like a pot of Humbrol model paint costing £10 to ship from UK to CI.
I posted a large-ish parcel to NZ about three years ago and it cost £14

Re: Cheap and New CH Eclipse Yoke
NZ is really expensive to send stuff to these days Garry. My brother lives out there and mum sends stuff over for the kids. Frequently £30 worth of kids clothes (not shoes) will cost £40 to post.
Ben.
