Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.
Re: Post Office
I'm a big Royal Mail fan. haven't had a problem since we moved to the current house, The posties are great and they've never missed a next day delivery yet. Infact two weeks ago I posted my Mum's birthday card at the local Post Office in sunderland between 16:00 and 16:30 (can't remember the exact time) and it arrived with her in Belfast at 10:30 ish the next morning. not bad for 60 odd pence.
Ben.

Re: Post Office
Good ole Royal Mail!
The postal service downunder has been privatised to a huge extent.
There was a recent announcement that mail posted in rural areas will be sent to an outer suburb of Melbourne for sorting. Then it will be sent back to the country for delivery: about 3 days and around 280 Km. Progress with a capital F.

One can expect a slight delay where you live Mike.. Australia being some 32x larger than the UK at 7,617,930sq Kilometres (the UK being a piddly 78,772sq km)
You probably have the same number of postmen and they have to walk a lot further

Re: Post Office
A few months ago I posted a package 2nd class from Edinburgh to a friend in South Wales .The collection time was 17.30 and the postie was knocking on his door at 9 am the following morning.Let's hope that this level of service and the universal charges survive now that privatization has happened.
