It's power wire snafu update.

The repairman put to much tension on the wire when they repaired it after the storm ...and it finally popped.

I wanted to tell him I thought it was to taught. Not enough droop between the poles. .....Hey not my business

The hell it's not. caught the Bird of Paradise on fire...

I got a hot wire off to the left and right laying on the grass and fence, throwing buckets of water (just the water) up the plant..

Sun hotter than blazes beating down on me... .. .. But I remained calm and got the fire out. ....

Good job you're an electrician, Joe.
I would have been too scared to chuck water on an area with fallen power lines.
Still, you're only on 120V, would have only killed half of you.

It's not the voltage, it's current. 25 milliamps is sufficient to disrupt heart rhythm.
You're right on line voltage used in residential, in the US . Two 120 volt conductors (two pole single phase) with a grounded conductor.

You can rest easy though, There was no danger in putting the fire out. I do know electrical theory.

The most dangerous work I've performed - was done dry. Pushing 750kcmil past 4000 amp rated "loaded" busbar . with inches of work area ....
