That is democracy otherwise you could say it's wrong to not change if more voted yes even just one.

I think though a recount would be in order.

Strikes me though it's really a three pronged vote

No...stay the same

Yes...we want to be independent and govern ourselves

Yes...we don't want to be governed by the current people running the country we don't like, don't respect and appear to not care about our interests base in the separate country of London

Many yes votes will be for the wrong reason

The third option really can be said to affect most of the UK where the lives of people in many areas would be far better if London was not so centralised.

And who is next? Wales and Corwall?

For me as non-british, I think it is sad if UK gets so small! What about your flag Union Jack - would look odd with no blue background and white cross. Would it just be the english flag?

Anders

Well Anders you would think with all the problems the UK is facing from abroad right now we should all be sticking together rather than all this about being Independent, personally coming from what i have known in my 72yrs as the UK i can't see it happening and i really hope it's a NO vote on the 18th and they shut up about it and get on with more important things.

Just my two pennies.

Roger.

Roger you can rest assured that I and SWMBO will be voting no.Remember that old adage, 'divide and conquer'.I'll leave you to decide from which groups the threat of conquer would come.
Salmond so far has succeeded in conning many Scots in supporting the call for independance but of course he is pushing at an open door by appealing to the inherent dislike of England and Westminter by many, but certainly not all Scots. The divIsions caused by this campaign will take a long time to heal.I hope the b@stard gets his come uppance on Thursday.EricT

I'm not sure which appalls me more, the gullibility of my fellow nationals in being taken in by the hectoring buffoon and his vacuous impractical and improbable promises, or the ability of the better together campaign to throw away a 20% lead.

As has already been said the campaign has turned nasty with the worst traits being displayed by supporters of the nationalists. Should they win the resulting nation will be anything but the "fairer society" that Kim Il Salmond has proclaimed. One of salmond's advisors has already been caught out saying that there will be a day of reckoning for any companies with government contracts that have stuck their heads above the parapet in support of the no campaign.

In case those of you South of the border believe that it will not affect you, just look at the way the pound has been bouncing about against the dollar in response to poll results. We are all in this.

What is really unbelievable is the fact that, in the eventuality of a Yes vote, there is no mechanism for any going back even if the resulting Scottish negotiation team utterly fail to achieve any of the pipedream assumptions in the nationalist's white paper.

Without doubt this is the most dangerous moment for the future of our nation since WWII.

You can tell from the time of this posting that sleep does not come easy at this crucial period. We have spoken to several people, both Scots and English residents here who have indicated that in the event of a yes vote they will be heartbroken and are planning to move south of the border. One English couple that we spoke to yesterday have lived in Scotland for 21 years, raised a family and have many friends here but they are already in the process of buying a house near Durham.
Many of the Scots are absolutely appalled at the behaviour of some their fellow countrymen who are yes supporters.
If Salmond prevails today it will be due in large part to the support of the numpties many of whom can never be bothered to vote at any other time.
Finally, when the yes campaign say that this is an opportunity never again to be ruled by a government not elected by the majority of Scots, they forget to mention that in the 2010 general election only 23% of the electorate voted for the SNP,something that I'm surprised the no campaign leaders don't seem to have capitalized on.Sorry for rabbiting on so much, hope I've not hogged this thread overly.EricT

I tuned into LBC radio this early morning for you lot, late night here, to judge how the vote is going only to discover that under Broadcasting rules, they are not allowed to discuss it. :dunno:

Yes I believe that's true for all elections in the UK. Come voting day, all campaigning and debating on radio and TV has to stop. By this time tomorrow, we will know. Potentially a historic 24 hours ahead of us. :worried:

Personally, from up over this side of the border I'm keeping out of any public discussion, but what I can say is no matter what happens tomorrow morning,
