Itsy Bitsy Spider.

scratch Itsy Bitsy.
Image
Banana Spider.
genus Nephila / Golden Silk orb-weaver variety

This is about 4.5 to 5 inches ... they get bigger.

I had a hard time getting a shot I liked of this spider. This one had spun a web over a pathway I bike.
A fair amount of touch up was needed to remove the flash burn and sun wash out.
I think It's a good representation of what I saw with my eyes , but was unable to get with the camera.

I used the super macro setting on my camera. Holding the lens just a few inches from the spider. And the wind was blowing the web in and out about 6 inches .. (= Fun)
So I had a bit of luck as the focal depth of the camera is abysmal-

Joe

Just one reason why I never want to be in any warm climates :hide:

Joe, I wouldn't have used a macro. I would have used a telephoto with converters and taken the pic from about 5 miles away

Seriously....nice shot and it does convey the 'presence' of the beast

Weird legs. Or are leg warmers in fashion amongst arachnids these days?

Maybe they're having an '80's revival?
