Heartfelt condolences Geoff.

I know what you have been going through having lost my dear wife Joan seven and a half years ago. People used to tell me, "you will get over it." They just didn't say how long it would take. You just learn to get on with things.

I am very fortunate in as much as I have a very supportive son and daughter and a host of very good friends - a lot of them dwellers on this site.

At least I can go and take flowers and sit a while at the East Riding Crematorium where Joan's ashes are placed in the Columbarium there. Only realised the other week that it is actually just at the other side of the road to Eddsfield

I know what you mean Dave, Joan was five years younger than me and I always expected to shuffle off first.

Just keep your chin up Geoff, believe me, you never get over it - you just learn to cope and things get a little easier.

Sincere condolences, Geoff.
It's our 45th in November, and my wife and I have sometimes talked of whichever survives the other, how tough it will be.
A local very good mate, 91 on 1st January, just passed the tenth anniversary of losing his wife. You never forget, he says.
Like you, he's fortunate in respect of having supportive friends and relatives, though they never managed to have children.

Geoff, my condolences. I know what you are going through. I lost my wife in 2002. Times helps heal but you never ever will forget.

Thank you one and all for your kind comments, it was the suddenness and rapid deterioration in the last 7 days that really hurt. From having a nagging cough at the end of April to being diagnosed mid May with terminal lung cancer then numerous complications, it all seemed so rapid and unfair, but life now has to go on.

On a more positive note I am going to Araxos HAF Airbase on 16/17 October for the bash to celebrate the final retirement of the lovely old SLUF.....I know it ain't classic Brit but what the hell, she is a lovely old bird

It's something I would probably never have done with my darling Jan, but think it helps to move on.
