On that note Dave I have decided to take up modeling too (the statics on Vic58 were my first attempts...) I am working on a destroyer right now and have plans (both intent and from Jecobin) to do something even more up your historical street..
No promises on dates yet as the Firefly is taking most of my time.
Yikes.. that destroyer wouldn't be a County Class would it I'm in the process of trying to bribe someone with one of my kidneys to resurrect a County Class project (very early days and he doesn't know about it yet) but if you have one in the pipeline.. it will save me having to go under the knife
Yes I have. She's definitely a fine trainer for carrier ops. I'm getting comfortable landing her on Victorious...except for the last couple of seconds of each flight. Here's a screenie from this morning. One attempt, one trap.

Sorry a RN ship that neither drinks or smokes? .... I have no recollection of such an example! lol
19 to 21 should not be a problem, both Batch 2. The plans I have are for the Exocet Fit, so should be no drama. I just wanted to do D19 in 1971 fit for family reasons. I am working on two models a more detailed version for single ship use similar to one of our carriers and then a stripped version for more Ai that would have various parts (polys lol) removed.

I came, I saw, I'm going back to Victorious. Landing on Victorious is like landing on a ship, while landing on Nimitz is like landing at a car park...if that makes any sense. The Nimitz is a very nice model though.

Well.. if you're doing the batch 2's.. you may as well add Antrim and Fife. All you'd really need to do to turn the batch 2 into a batch 1 would be to change the AE on the foremast (perhaps main mast too).. bin the 4 big bangers where the B turret used to sit and plonk another 4.5" twin in it's place. The rest of the ship was pretty much the same between them both. So.. Devonshire, Hampshire, London and Kent. Yes.. that's an excellent nights work

I've been looking around my hangar for suitable models for carrier ops (by suitable I mean easy going) and found this little tinker..
However, as you're already happy with the Gannet.. the Fouga Zephyr is a step below. Despite it's 'go get em' looks.. the Gannet is faster The quickest you're likely to go in it is off the cat Still.. it's a fun model and has very docile handling characteristics. It was used by the French Navy to train pilots for carrier ops though god knows what they'd have thought getting out of one of these and into something like an Etendard
