Unfortunately some people use this natural phenomenon to justify another few thousand windmills to spoil our beautiful countryside (and make obscene amounts of cash)

Awe-inspiring video Peter, thanks! ('Awe-inspiring' is a term that's rather overused I think, but it's certainly apt here.)

Geoff- As someone's who regularly witnesses the level of investment (not to mention diesel) that's ploughed into the vessels servicing offshore wind farms I do often wonder if nuclear power really is the better option. Offshore wind energy - round 3 at any rate - is just about the most expensive form of energy generation available to us.

Therefore, I'm not altogether sure it's a good thing that the UK is the world leader in offshore wind power generation, even at a time where we're not the world leader in very much else. (And that's with wind energy still supplying less than 10% of our energy needs.)
