MY BIG CLOCK

Latest addition to the Flying Visit museum is my reproduction Fighter Command sector clock.
There were several variations.
This one is closely based on the example used at Digby.
I should be a bit more parochial and do Uxbridge, which was closer to home, but I don't really like that design. (see picture on notice board below the clock)
I did the artwork and took it to a print shop due to the limits of my printer.
The face is 450mm diameter, so the outer case makes it quite a size.
Not 100% happy, as they didn't allow for the chamfer on the recess, so it had to be hand trimmed to 447mm.
They said they'll re-do it on Monday if I don't like it, so I might take that offer.
It also needs a fake winding keyhole, but I won't fit that until the print is OK.

As you said "seriously", I'll answer it seriously.
You need to know whether it's early or late in the day, just as you do with a 12 hour clock; there's no magic in it.

Best way to tell is that at 6am, you're still getting over last night's drinking, and at 6pm, you're ready to do it all again!

As I understood it, a lot of those wartime control rooms were underground. Therefore, it wasn't just a matter of looking through the window to see whether it was dark outside or not.

I just wondered if there was an obvious setting on the clock, that I couldn't see. Sadly, there is more sand in the bottom of my life timer, than there is in the top.

Totally agree, those control rooms were mainly underground, and it would be somewhat surreal.
They received information from spotters on the surface, and personnel would have been coming on and off shift, so I think it safe to believe that they maintained a sense of whether it was am or pm.

Of course, the whole idea of "The Clock that won the war", was that the controllers knew that the situation represented on the table was never more than 15 minutes old.

I just use digital
