Ghost Story: WWI U-Boat UB-65

A ghost story about a "haunted" WWI U-Boat. Probably pure baloney, but I love a good ghost story.

I remember reading this story years ago. It might be baloney, but I personally believe there is more to the sum total of things than just what we can see, hear and touch. A couple of of experiences over the years point to something being there, though what exactly, I can't say. Getting back to seafaring spectres, my old employer had one of our ships exorcised, though whether it was because they believed the stories that were told, or just to shut everyone up, I don't know.

As it's the season for ghost stories, does anyone else have any experiences - or maybe a baloney stuffed somewhere ?

I love these sorts of stories.

like with the Titanic they love to put a sinister angle on shipyard deaths. In fact they were common and in Britain a death toll of one per ten thousand tons was about the industry standard at that time.

Well when i was a lad i would visit my grand mother nearly every week with my mum and she had long hair, nearly to her waist , i would comb and brush it and then put it into plats for her,

I was 14yrs old when she passed away and i'm not sure how long it was after that but our house had a bathroom with separate loo, i had just finished washing and turned round to come out of the bathroom and saw my nan gliding down the stairs with her hair flowing behind her, it scared the living daylights out of me,

As i type this it send shivers down my spine and i am now 73 yrs old but i can still see her now,

Was it her ghost or was it just on my mind? i can't say i have ever believed in ghost but !

Yikes! That's a spooky story Roger about your grandmother (may she rest in peace). That sight would have scared the daylights out of anybody...possibly even our Dave, who has remained eerily silent about this thread. Maybe Dave doesn't believe in sailor ghosts.

Just watched all five videos...with the lights off. At one point the cat walked unannounced into the darkened room and leapt onto the desk in front of me. Crazy cat. Some of those stories definitely raised a few goose pimples. Thanks for the links Paul.

By the way I was at Kennington tube station the other day ( remember the story that the two drivers told, even though they had never met ? ) We had to get off and walk through to the other tunnel to continue south to Tooting Broadway, while the now-empty train disappeared off into the Loop to start its run back northwards. Didn't pick up any supernatural vibes though.
