It's a real beauty, and that noise.....

Were both takeoff and landing ( particularly the takeoff ) a bit hairy ?

No I don't think so Chris...Remember in those days nobody had dreamed up the word "Rotate"...One used to hold the stick in the right fore and aft position and allow the accelerating aeroplane to fly itself off the ground when it is ready!
