I love that photo...It reminds me of my Wings final handling ride with Len Trent in the back...He asked me to do a loop and I did all the necessary clearing turns and then dived for the speed and pulled smoothly up...At just about the exact position of Liz in that photo, I pulled just a smidgen too hard. The aeroplane flick rolled and did a perfect "roll off the top" all on its own!..."Very nice Mr McLeland", said Len Trent, "but I did say a LOOP".

New Zealand seems to be becoming a repository of historic aircraft being preserved or restored. A few years ago I called in at Croydon on the S Island where they were restoring various DH models , building wooden ribs and stringers etc from scratch , not to mention a Staggerwing and some more Americana
