Does this sound familiar?

Post by Dev One »

As we Silver Surfers know, sometimes we have trouble with our computers.

Yesterday, I had a problem, so I called Georgie , the 11 year old next door, whose bedroom looks like Mission Control, and asked him to come over.

Georgie clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem.

As he was leaving I asked what was wrong....?

He replied, 'It was an ID ten T operator error.'

I didn't want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired, 'An, ID ten T error....? What's that....? In case I need to fix it again.'

Georgie grinned .. 'Haven't you ever heard of an ID ten T operator error before....?

'No,' I replied.

'Write it down,' he said, 'for future use.'

So I wrote down:

ID10T

I used to like Georgie , the little bugger....!

Actually, between my daughters and I, it's me who sorts out computer problems. While they go to concerts, dinner parties, art exhibitions and study for degrees, it's always down to me to explain such things as what SATA cables are, and the differences between USB1 and USB2. It's a good job someone round here knows what's important. :agree:

  :agree: Don't you just hate it?
Might have mentioned the friend's nephew who visited me to use FS.
While he was here, (after asking permission) he discovered passwords for networking that even I don't know, and used them to download stuff wirelessly to his laptop. :stupid:
Cheers, Mike.

KIds will be kids Joe. When the daughter had her own internet connected pc, we used parental control on it for ages. These are extremely restrictive and allow kids to do very little. As she got a bit older, we relaxed the parental control to a state where she could actually USE the pc. I couldn't say if she accumulated this mass of viruses or if she hit one particular site and got the lot all in one go but I was suitably gobsmacked when she told me
