I must admit that I thought the wreck had been located some time back ( even before her sister ship, Yamato, was discovered ) but obviously I was wrong. Maybe it was the third hull, Shinano, I was thinking of.
An interesting story. Bit miffed that the Telegraph video of it was shorter than the advert which preceded it
Don't ask me what I was looking for because I can't remember now but a few days ago, I stumbled over 'Victory at Sea'.. a B&W series of films I remember watching as a kid. On YouTube, it's been split into small sections.. can't tell you how many. I watched 5 and while looking for the next, found part 19 so gave up there and then If you have a while to spare, it's worth checking out though
Dave, I very much remember my dad and I watching Victory at Sea. It was the one school night I was allowed to stay up a little later, and mum was doing the evening shift at the NAAFI so she never found out anyway. It never occurred to me that Youtube might have some of it, so I shall go have a look. Another TV program from that time...Moonstrike, about SOE agents in occupied France. Remember it ? I can still hum the theme tune.
It was generally me and dad who watched 'Victory at Sea' too As soon as I heard the theme tune on YouTube, I knew what it was. A lovely tune, perfect for the series. Still kinda gives me goosey's
