Many thanks to everyone for their Birthday Messages - much appreciated.

Had a rather stressful day as my elderly Father collapsed at his house and so spent the whole day seeing to him and his needs. A big thank you must go to his next door neighbour for picking him up off the floor (I'm going into hospital in two weeks time for a new shoulder) and then giving him a meal. Sadly for me, this was the first year that he didn't remember my Birthday at all. A great shame, but still a great man.

So, off to the remains of the Classic Air Force today for a meeting as to order the books and models for their planned shop and then back to check on Dad. May try and have a quick Korev or Proper Job (hate Doombar) before returning home.

Again thanks to all,

Best wishes,

Martin

Hi Martin,

Best wishes to your Dad, hope he recovers well.
Good luck with your shoulder surgery, sorry to hear that such a youngster has a need for this.

Just as well you don't like it...some of the notes from Doom Bar's page:

"...... The bitterness remains into the finish with dry fruity notes.

This beer is currently unavailable for purchase."

Hope you enjoyed a couple of the others at your local.
Cheers, Mike.

Thanks for all your kind words so much appreciated. Am afraid to say that although he is ok today (we changed his low chair for something higher and I think he's trying to raise a petition to get the old one back!), he will not recover fully as he is suffering from Dementia and vascular Alzheimer's. We knew this was on the cards a year or two ago, but now is becoming part of our lives and every day something new is discovered or experienced. Such a shame for someone that has done so much in their life. Long term memory is fine (can name all the people he went to school with, previous military and civilian jobs etc), but can't remember what he did five minutes ago. He looked after me for years, now its my turn to do the best for him.

Had a better day than yesterday today. Airfix meeting went well at CAF, then they gave me a cake. Beer on the way home and just returned from a nice meal with friends. And to top it all, been told that am to have a flight in the CAF Avro Anson this year. As Dad was in the RAF and flew in Ansons in the 50s at Netheravon and Kenley, will be good to experience it for myself. Really looking forward to it as having spent a lot of hours in C-45s, will be nice to have the British equivalent in my logbook, although in the remarks column! ;)

Again Many Thanks,

Martin
