Windows 8.1 AAaargh

Post by Vancouver »

Have to vent -- sorry - what a clunky horrible thing.
It is just so damned awkward to use and this Metro interface. Do MS hate their customers or what!

:-O

Is the metro interface the thing that looks like a windows phone? If it is.. it's ok on a phone but I certainly wouldn't care for it on my pc!!

Make sure you take advantage of the free upgrade to Windows 10, then. ;)

Alex, what on earth persuaded you to dabble with Windows 8 ?

You will be able to do that directly from Windows 7, the best operating system ever (but why would anyone want to :dunno: )

Must be an "8" thing. IOS 8.2 just ruined my iPad 2

I came from w7 64, but the store had W8 at $84 whereas a new w7 was $120 odd, and I was figuring on shortly doing the W10 thing. There is nothing intuitive in W8. Just getting the File manager up was a major hunt, similarily Defender is so well defended it is hidden. It does seem to run FSX OK but not so friendly to FS9 in full screen - the a/c selection screen is black - have to go windowed to choose a/c. It seems if they can find an obstacle, they put one on place.
Just typing this missive became a drudge as 1/2 way thru' it went to CBFS front page because a download had finished, though Backspace brought it back. Grrrr.

Deary do Alex :(

The black aircraft selection screen isn't necesarily the fault of Win8 (I'm sad to say). If the old brain box serves me well.. this started happening back in WinMe with the Nvidia 4000 series cards. Prior to this, the selection window was fine. The aircraft would display (or not display) according to what AA setting you had and the only sure way to see them was to use windowed mode.

Speaking of things gone all black. For some strange reason, one off my ai 737s has lost its livery.
All black including windows, gear and wheels.

Now I gotta dig through that mess
But
Untill then , they are to be seen as special ops .. cia ... :worried: or anyone else who doesn't want to stand out in a crowd

It should be straight forward to track the problem down IF you know which one it is *-) Can't imagine why that would happen mind you :dunno:
