A Little Nostalgia

Post by paulsl »

For me at least as I went to quite a few of these. Not exactly earth shattering quality but some interesting bits nonetheless and a big contribution by the RAF....

Teesside Air Show 1976

Please don't ask why there's so much Yankee stuff in the stills, I have no idea *-)

Thanks for that Paul

Dunno if it's me but the cars look older than 1976 *-)

Hello Dave,

I thought the same - the cars as the Lancaster takes off at 3:43 are certainly out of time. I'm thinking they must be a gathering for display as they're so close to the RN & other caravans. The other cars (eg Celica and Viva at the start) are certainly in period.

I found a bigger version on You Boob and some details of the aircraft on this site.

What an astonishing thing that it's 39 years since this footage and PA 474 is still flying. She'll be 70 this year bless her.

Hiya Paul :hello:

I thought the same about PA474. It seems really stupid as we've seen it flying for years but when you see it flying back then, it suddenly seems old now :worried: You're probably right about those cars too.. a 'vintage' display or outing of some sort. Threw me

Yankee stuff in the stills?
I watched until "THE END", then it shut itself off.
All I saw was silent movie film, all British.
Maybe my computer's more Anglophile than I thought?

Thanks for posting Paul.
I agree, there must have been a historic car club there, or at least a historic display.
Cheers, Mike.

Definitely a classics display of cars , right at the beginning of the classic car movement. i could see an Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire, a Triumph Mayflower, an early 30s Morris ( probably a 12 ) and what looked like a mid 1930s Armstrong although it could have been a Humber Snipe of the same period, and then after the lorry there were more of the same but unidentifiable . Shame there was no sound . The stills also were interesting
