So far I'm more than happy with my W8.1, I find its been a lot more stable than all the others......I must be alone in the world though....

I tried it for a month after a new build PC. It was imo awkward and clumsy and interfering. It also doesn't like FSX overly much. It drops out USB ports when it gets weary which is a serious impediment to flying when the joystick suddenly stops working, or the Yoke or the Panels or the throttles yada yada yada. My research on the subject reveals that it is a well known problem (I didn't know though) but none of the so called fixes worked for me at least. I went out and bought a new copy of W7. Now the long drawn out process of reinstall begins.
There is always an irony I think when one MS product has issues with another MS product.

No recovery partition then??
Due to shortages and cutbacks the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off.

Alex, very interesting...can't say that I've had any of those problems (touching wood very quickly) & i find that my bottom end Acer laptop copes better with FSX than it does FS9. Mainly I think due to it not having a good graphics card, but it does have 64 bit op system.
My main 'puter is my sons left over which is more that 5 yrs old now & has a SSD for the Op system, but all my other programs are running on the HDD as SSD's don't like constant updates which I believe Windows does.
As I said before....I must be alone in the world....nice to be different & hope I don't have to eat my words!!!

Amen to Robbie's comment about Dell. I had less trouble with my refurbished Commodre 64 in 1985 than I had with my 3-year-old Dell! And I knew a hell of a lot less about computers back then.
