What area did you work in? (Design, manufacture, testing... something else?)

I was a mechanical/structural design draughtsman...doing it old style with pencil & paper for TSR2 & ink on mylar for C5A. Only difference between the two is that the majority of drawings for the C5A were at full size, whereas the others could be scaled to suit the size of paper (Elephant I think the largest!) - Before Euro sizes A4 etc!!!
Didn't get into computer design until about 2000 when the DRA gave us all desktops & we got Autocad. By then I was Head of the Development section doing design & development work at Llanbedr mainly on Jindivik, but some on the Meteor & Hawk.

I have a hufe respect for the old hand-drawn drawings. A certain "artistry" to it. I did a small amount of hand (technical) drawing at school but AutoCAD came in for us too around my A-levels and certainly at University. Sadly I never got the chance to get properly into the 3D modelling like CATIA, so I just do calculations mainly.
