Steam rescues electrics...
On 11 July an 1887-built steam locomotive came to the rescue of a Dutch Electric Multiple Unit that was stranded near Hoorn, North Holland after the catenary was damaged.

I see the problem, that's the standard 'cookie warning' that's getting in the way. This should work as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11LrH-jkq98
The steam loco is from the local historic railway that runs between Hoorn and Medemblik, they normally only transport tourists.

No problem Dave, that site doesn't use the standard text so it took me a while to figure out where to click to get rid of it!

Magic. Reminds me of an old Top Gear when they were testing fancy new 4x4's, BMW's and the like, in a farmers muddy field. Every single vehicle got bogged down in a muddy creek and couldn't get out. Who comes to their rescue but the farmer in his 1950's Land Rover. Mud no problem.

I'm not sure just how international lawyers work, but I'd be interested to see them sort out a dispute over any breach of the agreement.
Here's a little extract for those who exited the screen before scrolling down:
".....Each Contributor represents that to its structure, then You must: (a) rename Your license so that the requirements of this Agreement. REQUIREMENTS A Contributor may choose to distribute the Program originate from and are distributed on an unmodified basis or as part of the Program in a lawsuit), then any patent Licensable by Initial Developer in the case of the Standard Version. In addition, after a new version of the Original Code; 2) separate from the date such litigation is filed.
......"
Yes, Your Honour, but when I said that I thought that he knew what I meant.........
Oooh! Nearly forgot - cute video.

Something similar happened a few years ago, when our ultra high tech electric Eurostar trains were brought to a standstill by a spot of cold weather.
To the rescue? - a recently built Peppercorn class A1 Pacific - Tornado.

I loved Mark Allatt's quote (A1 Steam Locomotive Trust), - 'If any operators want to modernise their services by using steam trains, I would be happy to give them a quote'.

Gladly relieved she didn't have to be recovered by the likes of a certain crane crew.
I'll say no more.
