Do you have any SimObjectPaths.n lines in your FSX.CFG?
These tell FSX where to look for aircraft:
Guilty as charged, yerhonner, but I have no idea how it got there. Wasn't me Guv, mebbe a big boy did it and ran away?

Mike..

As George has shown.. you must have an entry in the FSX.cfg pointing to the Aircraft folder otherwise the sim simply won't see it. It's not possible to just add an Aircraft folder to the root directory and have it work mate.

Late edit: Bingo

Now we have that sorted :poke:

How is it that FS9 aircraft don't work when placed in Simobjects\Airplanes *-)

At least it's solved - I must have done it meself, although the days when I was clever enough to suss out something like that seem to be long gone...I am no longer surprised at what is in my memory bank, I am just grateful I can still dredge it up

George, I'll leave that to you
At least we now know what Henry needs to do...as for me, I will only point out that FSX is notorious for causing OOM errors.. 8)
A good team effort - thanks for your help.

Hmm, I have never had an OOM error in FSX.

But, I don't use complex addon aircraft.

OOM's are as common as horse sh*t with FSX if you use a 32bit OS. If the OS can only see a smidge over 3gig and FSX is capable of using up to 4gig.. it stands to reason  Complex scenery and aircraft will set the ball rolling nicely ;)

The only reason I can think of for FS9 models not to work in Simobjects/Airplanes is if they use/reference other FS9 folders that would normally be found in the Aircraft folder and the workaround is quite easy. Also.. some FS9 models use bespoke ini files for gauges e t c and these, if not changed, can make certain things not work because the ini is pointing in the wrong place. Looking at Mike's Aircraft folder.. you'd be hard pushed to think it was anything other than an FS9 root directory  Still.. this can be an easy way to solve issues and ultimately, may require less fiddling :)

I use 32bit XP and, as I said, I have never had an OOM.

Hi all, sorry I would have replied sooner but been busy these last few days! It worked by adding that line into the fsx.cfg but there are still some issues, the reheat and slow take off but its better than it was! Cheers for the help folks.
