But Mike, it was Ayers rock when I arrived there, and he still owned it when I left. And besides, I think you'll find Uluru was the communications officer in Star Trek.

Never having followed ST, I was compelled to look this up, chaps, finding this info........
Gene Roddenberry had intended his new female communications officer to be called "Lieutenant Sulu".[2] Herb Solow pointed out how similar this was to "Zulu" and thought it might act against the plan for racial diversity in the show, so the name Sulu remained with George Takei's character.[3] "Uhura" comes from the Swahili word uhuru, meaning "freedom". Nichols states in her book Beyond Uhura that the name was inspired by her having had with her a copy of Robert Ruark's book Uhuru on the day she read for the part. When producer Robert Justman explained to Roddenberry what the word uhuru meant, he changed it to Uhura and adopted that as the character's name.[3] Coincidentally, the end credits of the film Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country incorrectly refer to Uhura as "Uhuru".

Uhura's first name was not used in Star Trek canon until Abrams'.........
Cheers, Mike.

Well, I might be on the wagon, but Beige World just had to go. So...

Default P3Dv3 Cambridge in winter ( or is that El Cambridge in Libya ? ):

Then with Orbx Global applied:

Finally, Orbx's Open Landclass EU on top:

Framerates have suffered a little, but that's to be expected. I've also installed Pilots FTXG 2010 global mesh. So that's it then - no more scenery add-ons for me. I finally have all I need. Well, apart from HD trees of course. That will have to go in, obviously. And Orbx Vector too...

As if I could have kicked the habit

With the imminent release of Orbx's Southern California, I've re-installed their Northern California in readiness. I'm not sure which mesh is showing - either Orbx NCA or Pilots FTX 2010 - but it's satisfyingly lumpy down there.

The real reason I'm posting this is because after a couple of hours of flying over this immense, detailed landscape, in A2A's masterpiece Piper Cherokee, with weather provided by Opus, and frame rates set at a very smooth 20, I'm a happy simmer. Okay, its taken the purchase of a fairly beefy video card to get there, but it was worth every penny. P3Dv3 is terrific. :)
