Newfie's!!!

Post by robbie »

The best thing to do is read this with a Cornish accent in mind!

A Newfie won a fishing boat in a raffle and tows it home. His wife looks at him and says, "What in the name o' Lard Jasus are you gonna do wit dat, bye? We lives on a farm. There's nary a bit o' water within 75 miles o' 'ere."
He says, "Don't care. I won 'er and I'm gonna keep 'er."...
Several days later the Newfie's brother comes over to visit. He looks out in the field behind the house and sees his brother sitting in a fishing boat in the middle of the field with a fishing rod in his hand.
He stands at the edge of the field and yells out to him, "What the frig are you doin'?"
His brother calls back, "I'm fishin'. What the frig does it look like I'ma doin'?"
His brother yells back, "Lard tunderin' my son, it's people like you that gives Newfie's a bad name, making everyone think we're stupid. If I could swim, I'd come out there and kick you in the friggin arse."

No, they speak with a Newfie accent. It is a peculiar mix of Irish, Scottish and Canadian (east coast) and it helps to be very drunk when trying to impersonate it. Oh, and they are all crazy but fun to be around.

This one had me roaring! It's a voicemail left by a Newfie looking for work.

Could also apply to an Irish, or a Polish joke? Depending upon where one lives I suppose?

   pretty good Larry.

I spent nearly all day today around the harbor, it's the highest tides and we all chip in to haul the fishing boats out of the water before the ice sets in, at least 12 of us trying to haul a 45', 25 tons trawler using 2 tractors, I have to admit I only understand 50% of what's said but after sharing 2 bottles of "Screech" brandy...you can google that too!!, we got the job done, even my 38' 9 tons boat ended up fairly straight up on the slipway amazing!!.
They are, as Alex said, fun people to be around, and not a single penny changes hands, it's just a community coming together to help each other.
