TOPGUN Meets BBC Sailor Series

Post by sketchy74 »

So what do you do when bored on a flight home from a business trip with all of the 1976 BBC Sailor Series and Adobe Premiere on your Tablet....?

For someone who grew up in a Fleet Air Arm household in the 70's and 80's both Sailor and TOPGUN were required viewing / mickey taking...I could not resist showing how I am sure that Tony Scott and Jerry Bruckenheimer were influenced by Auntie Beeb some ten years previous some of the Sailor footage is timeless.

As I said just a bit of fun....

Ah!! :RN: :RN:

Actually.. I sat and watched 'hours' (literally) of Ark Royal V's last deployments on the box yesterday and very good it was too  I noticed one of the wafu's had an Air Wolves patch on his arm he'd obviously bummed off a Yank wafu (Air Wolves are USN HSL-40 and fly UH60 Seahawks) and I knew that due to FSX. :cpu:

Now.. what was this thread about again? *-)

Smashing stuff Fraser, was actually disappointed it didn't go on even longer when it finished :(
It had potential to be the best Royal Navy clip on YouTube there

Really enjoyed that. Wonder how many of the shots from Top Gun were inspired by Sailor and other documentaries of the mid-late '70s.
