Ah.. Oct 3rd.

Still.. I reckon it was the Vulcan's famous half rollout to level flight that has been tagged as a barrel roll by someone who doesn't know what a barrel roll is. If the Vulcan crew actually DID pull a full roll.. why the hell has it taken until now to become public. It's the most filmed aircraft wherever it goes so surely.. we'd have seen film of the event by now.. had it actually happened. OK.. she does go a fair bit 'over' on occasion but I've never seen her fully inverted.

Well, they didn't barrel roll it for the guy who flew the 607 flight. Move along, nothing to see here folks :)

If that link works.. she does go over quite a lot but is it a full barrel roll? Not quite me thinks. Darned close to a full 180 though

That footage from Farnborough shows nothing more than an enthusiastic wingover. Because the Vulcan is almost directly overhead the filmer it looks as though it is inverted but it is distorted by the perspective if you ask me.

Having seen the footage that shows the alleged roll, it is a set of still images stitched together to form a video. It could just as easily be a combination of stills from different manouvres added together. The only way to prove it is to go back to the original images, compare the timestamps and make sure that no Photoshop was involved.

The permit to fly that the aircraft operated on specifically states that aerobatic manouvres are prohibited. It doesn't matter if it was done at a display or outside, if the aircraft was rolled then that is a breach of the conditions stated on the CAA paperwork. The 2008 permit is here: http://www.caa.co.uk/aandocs/27038/27038000000.pdf

I agree with Archer. From the position the video was taken the angle of the Vulcan was largely exaggerated giving the appearance of a steeper turn but that clearly shows the Vulcan had not barrel-rolled. When at Scampton there were a number of times when the Vulcan was put through its' paces in practise for a display and the wing-over or chandel was always done at ninety degrees, if stood in a certain position it did appear to be over that.

Just think some-one was trying to make a name for himself.

I'll put my money on it not being a full roll.
