WEATHER!!!!

Post by adysmith »

When I used FS9 I used Active Sky and it was OK except that it had unrealistic winds at Concorde cruise levels.

When I got a new super duper PC and FSX I bought Active Sky Next; the upper winds were a whole lot better BUT

It would freeze FSX for ten minutes at a time, at random times and places. Sometimes FS would recover OK but FSAirlines would throw teddy out of the pram and three hours of flying went down the swanny.

I dumped ASN and installed FSrealWX Pro, which didn't cause the stutters, what it does do is either fail to update the weather on the sim or update it so suddenly that you get severe windshear at FL whatever (OK if above 100 but gave me many speed exceedances below 100 :S ) or it stops responding and closes causing windshear as FSX resets the wind.

SO, any suggestions as to how to make ASN work without making FSX pause, or any better weather generation programs out the re for FSX?

Have you got the latest SP for ASN Ady (SP2)? SP3 is in 'public beta' though I've not tried it yet. I tend to wait for the stable 'official' SP.

Never had a problem with ASN myself (SP3 beta in P3d).
Maybe anti-virus locking it up? :dunno:

Anti Virus is AVG Free, can't recall which version of ASN I had, uninstalled it a bit back.
