8 years on...

Post by Charlie Bravo »

Hi chaps.

Some of you may remember me from years back.
I gave up on Flightsim about 8 years ago. I was sick of its inaccuracies and poor graphics engine so sold my PC and bought a laptop for everyday use.

Fast forward 8 years and I've got myself a laptop suitable for gaming so yesterday I cracked out the FSX discs and had a little dabble.
I'm obviously quite out of the loop so what would you chaps recommend freeware wise to use?
I'm after aircraft (complete with sounds etc) and new scenery, mainly texture replacements.

Sadly, everything I had paid for, I deleted.
Cheers,
Chris

Hi Chris :hello:

Nice to see you back

I'd hardly know where to start as far as freeware goes but I'm sure one of the troops will be able to start the ball rolling for you ;) All of DG's current models are FSX native and are available in the library :cpu:

Hi Chris,

What are your interest regarding aircraft, Props/Jets/GA.

Thanks Dave. I posted the message then had a chuckle at the avatar. Never fails to amuse!

Hi Roger,

Jets or props really. The more 'complete' the package, the better... ie model, panel and sounds.

Nice to see you back Chris.

It has indeed been a long time.

My Freeware:

Rick Piper' HS748
Fraser's Electra
Manfred Jahn's L749
Mario Noriega's P180
Aeroproyecto EMB-110 (With the new KLN90b addon and a few of my own mods)
Garry Russel's CL-44
Tinfork 737-200 (A new, FSX Native Tinmouse with a VC)
Project Tupolev Tu-154
Suprunov Yak-40 FSX Beta

And a host of others. If it has system depth, it's probably in my hangar.

Now I know you said Freeware, but there are two payware addons that you absolutely need to have to get the most out of FSX:
FSUIPC
Accufeel

I'll try to update the post with links later.

Hi Chris and nice to hear from you again, just a thought but if you can remember where you made your purchases then surely by contacting the software company they may be able to help as tey should still have your details?

Just a thought.

Nigel.

Hi chaps.

I've managed to get a couple of aircraft back from Flight1 but it seems the other bits I had were FS9 only.

Now, I've reinstalled FSX but am now pondering whether to go P3D v3 or dare I say it X-Plane 10. As I'm going to have to invest in some sort of scenery enhancement, I've got some reading to do!

Chris, one scenery that I would suggest and that is ORBX though depends largely what you are going to run. At the moment they have discounts on their products which you purchase through Flightsimstore.

I have England Scotland and Wales as well as FTX Global Base which is far better than FSX Default scenery. Also there is FTX Trees which is a must as far as I am concerned if you go down the route for FTX.

Hope this helps
