Hidden chamber behind Tutankhamun's tomb ?

Post by Paul K »

This is fascinating; the possibility that there is another tomb concealed behind that of King Tut's. A wall has been scanned with radar and it appears that there might be at least one more room beyond it.

According to the reports in the links above, and elsewhere, archaeologists and officials in Egypt think it might be the tomb of Queen Nefertiti, who is believed to have been Tutankhamun's step-mother, and that when he died at the untimely age of 19, he was interred in the outer section of her tomb, while her area was sealed up behind the wall. It could be one of the greatest archaeological discoveries ever. Definitely a story to follow as it unfolds in the months ahead.

Hmm.. I was watching something on 'Yesterday' not that long ago that suggested they may have already found Nefertiti's mummy.. unless I'd lost the plot. Still.. interesting stuff all the same :)

It's one thing to have to live with ones mother-in-law...but to be buried with her....
Wow!

Yepp, you're right Dave but there's still a bit of a fight going on among archaeologists because some feel that the DNA and other evidence wasn't conclusive.

This is certainly fascinating and it does look as if there are extra rooms but its a big step from that to say its Nefertiti's ... guess we will only be sure when they get the pick-axes out. 0:)

UPDATE:
The scans have been sent to Japan for further analysis.
Apparently, they are focussing their attention on two bumps on the wall.
Initial sound scans have picked up a musical message:
"You found her knockers, but you can't come in,
Come back tomorrow night and try again..."

If that's too old for you, here's a link:

When at school many many years ago, 8) in one leason I believe it was probably geography when learning about the pyramids our teacher told us that it was rumoured when a pharoah died he/she was buried with all their treasure held in a secret chamber so no-one would find it.

Doubt for one minute that will be the case here but will be very interesting should they ever try to access it.

Nigel
