Old PMDG products going off sale

Post by Paul K »

I thought I'd bring this up, because there may be people here who have considered buying one of their aircraft, and intend to do so 'one day'. Unfortunately that one day needs to be soon as the following models are going to be withdrawn from sale at midnight on the 14th of this month:

PMDG 747-400X for Microsoft Flight Simulator X
PMDG MD-11X for Microsoft Flight SImulator X

There is a new 747 coming out very shortly, but it really is curtains for the MD-11. If you want it, get it now ( for FSX only despite the community's pleadings ! ).

The MD-11 is still one of the best add-ons available, especially if you use the 2d panel. It's one of my all time favourites, great systems fidelity, spot-on flight characteristics and very easy on frames. Sadly it was a commercial flop for PMDG and never really received the updates it needed in later years. If you are still on FSX I would recommend giving yourself an early present.

It's hard to believe the MD is going off sale. It seems like only yesterday it was released! I guess 2008 really was a long time ago...

Agreed. Perhaps it's a case of art imitating life, but I never understood why the PMDG model was such a sales failure. It really is a great bird in FSX, even by today's standards.

Great pity as I missed that sale, I would have thought that if a developer ceases to support a model and removes it from the market then why can they not continue selling it at a reduced price with no support? At the end of the day it would still mean some sort of income gained from it but then again, I suppose there would always be one purchaser who would still complain of no help or support even if it states no 'Support Given' on the download!! 8)

Regards
Nigel.

LOL Like you, I was misled by subject heading. The heading did NOT say that PMDG products were on sale. The heading said PMDG products were going off sale meaning the PMDG products were DISCONTINUED and no longer available for sale.

For those 2 products.. yes. Pop over to PMDG now and you'll find no sign of said MD11 or 747-400. They're gone.. finito.. no more. As Paul's first post said.. they were withdrawn from midnight 14 Dec.
