I wouldn't suspect there be Indians in Niort
So, why DID you mention Niort, Joe?
Cheers, Mike.

Well.... Kevin is near LFBN, which is in Niort, France. ...and I was fairly confident no Canadian Indians would be found in Niort,
Thus explaining the reason he doesn't get accurate weather forecasting ,

because the French weather people don't have any Canadian Indians gathering firewood to watch , giving them the heads up,

actually Kevin says he 20 miles south of LFBN,,,,,.... somewhere near saints I reckon. .. 0:)

It's Keith actually, & you have miles mixed up with Km. Saintes is another 45 Km down the road. I'm between Niort & St Jean d'Angely, the latter being fought over a lot in the 100 years war. The Abbey is in its 5th rebuild & money & work stopped in the late 1790's, having been almost demolished!!

Close to Rochefort and Cognac. Sounds wonderful.

I live between Gorgonzola and Saronno, but much prefer cognac to Amaretto di Saronno.

About an hour north of Cognac, & we have found one small producer that makes a very good one as well as pineau & a fizzy version one puts in the freezer 24 hours before drinking. He has a 'run of the mill' 8 year old for 13€, a 20, & a 40 year old........
I'm sure that there are many, many other private producers around, but to get to taste them & then decide which one to continue drinking would take an eternity, or even longer if breathalysed!

Rochefort more than an hour away, but very interesting to visit the 'Hermione' - the French gun runners (Lafeyette) ship for the American civil war that they have just reproduced from scratch, but had to meet modern day safety seaworthy standards that crossed the Atlantic & returned last summer.

Goodnight!
Cheers, Mike.
