We were working on an evaporator, which turns sea water into distilled water for the boilers. We were removing the brass end cover off the condenser, and as we lifted it on a chain block, it caught on something, jumped off the hook and dropped down onto my right foot. The thing was about 3ft diameter, 2 inch thick brass, from about 8 ft up. It landed behind the steel toecap of my boot, and crushed a number of bones. It certainly made my eyes water. That was about 9.30 in the morning. By 8 p.m. that night I was home.
Ohhhhh.. I winced at that, I've had similar pain. It makes ya almost call out for mommy. I've been burnt with 500 degree roofing tar, on the back side of my right hand,
The pain is like. .. Sends you into another world or something. Not anything like broken bones.. But still

Anyway.. I wasn't trying to one up you with my burn.. Not like Mike did me.. . You might remember about a year ago I got a nasty spider bite and showed a pic of it. And Mike asked what it tasted like... Then not long after.. He went and got his self bitten by a spider and showed a picture of his bite!
Now that was a clear case of oneupmanship. that guy.. I tell ya

Ok guys , you've got us going , it's blowing an Hooley in ' Daarset ' . No aeronautical goings on , so it'll have to be nautical . Aviation is full of TLAs [ 3 letter acronyms ] , and I'm just learning that nautical is as well . Big grey boats once had an attraction but they got rid of a/c [ sorry Dave , don't count helos as a/c , 'tho they might levitate ].
So in no particular order .....Esso Blee Dooler [ anything to do with the Esso blue song ? ], Chief's part A , STUK , OTJ , G-boat , 2/e [ guessing 2nd eng ? ] , T2 , military T2............... spent 12 years on T2es of the DH / HS variety , and on reflection they probably would have floated better than they flew .
Caltex , I've not heard of for many a year , was a 'boi in Gt Yarmouth . Friend of the family's daughter married a Texan Caltex sailor ....taught us how to make Scotch pancakes .
My old boss from pig farm days ; his 2nd son Ross Jolliffe went off to be a Shell deck officer . And I take great delight in pointing out that one of our newly qualified students used to be a Shell tanker driver .......of the 250,000 tonne variety .
