Aero Expo 2016 Friederichshafen - Photos

Post by TobyV »

I braved the weather (was 21C on Friday and sunny, but pouring with rain on Saturday when I went and quite dangerous on the Autobahn) and went over Lake Constance to Friederichshafen where they hold an annual Expo of what's new in the GA world. There's a few things that didn't quite belong, as you'll see too! Didn't buy a plane, but did buy some nice brown leather driving gloves.

Hypstair hyrid aircraft engine - one advantage is there's no power drop off in hot and high conditions apparently

Some very nice toys there! Thanks for the photos Toby.

That Dove looks suspiciously like the one I saw there in August 2014:

The Austin Healey - once upon a time on a work sponsored holiday to Italy, we came across a dozen or more (maybe two dozen) Healey 3000s which, IIRC, were from the Swiss Austin Healey owners club (may have Austrian or German though - either way, quite a following on the continent!)

Hi Toby,

Great pictures, thanks for sharing them,

Lovely 3000, along with the Triumph TR2 was one of my favorite sports cars, i take it the MG is yours?

Looked like there certainly was a good variety there, i don't know about that Volocopter though!

All the Best,

Roger.

Roger - yes, the MG is mine!

HC - That particular Austin Healey appears to be carrying local "FN" plates (Friederichshafen).

Great photos as always, Toby.

I'm worried that Sully from 'Monsters Inc', is looking a little pale.
And someone seems to have over scaled a drone and added a 'person compartment' to it.

Seriously though, wonderful photos from what must be an excellent 'blokes day out'.

As for the Austin Healey, who cares why it was there. It was there! :) :) :)

Thanks from me, too, Toby.

When I scrolled down, I immediately thought: "that looks like an Austin Healey, I wonder what it really is" well, you know what they say about first impressions! :)
Cheers, Mike.
