At one time you were lucky to see a Wood Pigeon let alone get near one but with the crows now inhabiting the wood just across the road from where I live they have seemingly ousted all the Wood Pigeons leaving them to nest in any available tree they can find on our estate.
This one was making quite a racket so went to see what it was doing. The tree in my garden is about seven foot tall and the pigeon was only half an arms length from me when I took the picture, instead of flying away it just sat there watching me.
Not keen on the blighters as they can leave quite a mess with their calling cards and have even tried to frighten them away but they always bl**dy well come back!!
Any ideas to keep them away with doing 'em harm?
Nigel.
I used to be an optimist but with age I am now a grumpy old pessimist.
My favourite way of dealing with wood pigeons used to be either a 12 bore or .410 shotgun, mind you that was eons ago when I was in my late teens (c 1976).
They make a great pie filling along with veggies and gravy, mmmm pigeon pie, yum yum.
