That brings back memories!. I first subscribed to Flight International aged about 14 (approx. 1978 ). 'Straight and Level' was always the first page I turned to. As well as the phrase already mentioned, another favourite was 'Ahhh - De Havilland', as well as Uncle Roger's fictional airline 'Birdseed Airways'. Any similarity to BOAC/British Airways' call sign 'Speedbird' being co-incidental. And, wasn't there a character 'Monty Orangeballs'?
I even qualified as a 'Total Aviation Person', by scoring high enough in 'Straight and Level's' Christmas quiz.

Thanks for that. So it was kinda both of my beliefs - a failure and a misprogram. The failure was with the prior trap, and the misprogram was with that one as a result. I'm just glad none of the injuries were critical.
