Thats a trick I have also used many times. Again, great series so far, thanks and happy flying.petermcleland wrote:One little trick I use in order to get refreshment tea and bun etc. is to wait for an ATC change of frequency...I change the frequency but don't check in...I go and have tea and bun etc. then when I get back in the cockpit, I check in. If you don't do that then ATC cancels your flight plan and you have to re-file it.

Aharon...Glad you liked the screenshots...I'm hoping to do some more adventurous ones as I go along. However, I don't have FSX...All these screenshots are from P3D v 3, now with Global Scenery from Orbx and the odd airport like Milford Sound also from them. Milford Sound is the only airport in my screenshots so far that is individually loaded scenery but when I come to another, I will mention it. Sydney is just the Global version and I will try to capture some shots of it as I taxy out and take-off bound for Alice Springs...possibly on Wednesday.

Re: Crossing the Tasman Sea...
When I first tried V3 of the C-47 I thought it was great but looked like the Autopilot was marked as INOP and though I would have to hand fly it everywhere, and unfortunately don't have the attention span to do that for long. I did not realise it until Peter started this flight that the long panel you pop up with all the com-settings WAS the autopilot, I thought it was just one of those informational checklist type screens that DM put into his aircraft. After a short and successful test flight I will definitely be using this aircraft much more.

Re: Crossing the Tasman Sea...
Joe,
You need to take a much longer look at that long panel...You can make a great deal of input on that panel and the manual does not cover it all and just says you need to play with it
Here is a hint...When you need to change your altitude just dial it down on that panel and adjust the VS just below that to increase the rate of descent to a bit over 1000 ft/min. That will avoid ATC asking you to expedite your descent and the aircraft will reduce its rate as it approaches the target you dialled and settle at target altitude...It is really nice and works just as well as the Trident!!

Good advice, I will have to make some time to play with it this weekend.petermcleland wrote:Joe,
