Airliners almost ordered....
I am looking to paint some FS airliners for HJG in colours of airliners that were considered but rejected by airlines, cant seem to find much on Google so thought of this vast knowledge base from you guys
I know that BUA were courted by Douglas before they opted for the VC-10 but apart from American Airlines picking he 1-11 over the DC-9-10 I am stuck... Any ideas??

In the early sixties Hawaiian Airlines ordered 1-11s (to compete with Aloha) but later cancelled in favor of DC-9-10s. In 1985 they (HA) announced plans to transition from the 9s to BAE -146s - never happened though.

Tony,
Air Jamaica also briefly operated Lockheed L-1011 TriStar wide body jet aircraft in 1989. What livery is up to you for guessing.

Aharon

A whole list of airlines had Concorde orders but cancelled them. I have a book somewhere with some illustrations of them. Then of course there are airliners which could have made it into certain colours but arrived too late, like a BEA Tristar, a BOAC Concorde, maybe even a BEA HS146.

From a discussion over on Cal Classic ("to late to the party") there are two old newspaper renderings of the Brittania in Northeast Airlines livery and the Comet in Capitol Airlines colors, both quite handsome.

I've always liked the BOAC colours here. I thought they looked good on the 747 too.

Panair do Brasil ordered 3 Comet 1s, but cancelled after the accidents.
Air Brasil had 2 BA146-200s delivered and painted but they never entered service.
Cruzeiro operated an MD-82 leased directly from the factory for a couple of months, but no further orders were placed.
There is also an unconfirmed story that Sadia/Transbrasil looked very closely at the VC-10. They did like their British aircraft, operating HP Heralds and BAC 1-11s for many years.
