RTW Leg7...

Singapore to Bangkok:-


Taking off from Changi.


Levelled at 4000 feet and settled in the "Fast Cruise".


Quite a bit of cloud about but...


...some bits of blue sky as well.


Here I am about to...


...go into cloud and you can see that it looks very realistic.


Here things look a bit brighter...


...as I leave the coast


...for a long 500 nms sea crossing.

130 nms to go...They wanted me to take radar vectoring to a runway with no ILS so I asked for a runway change but they just promissed me a "Side-Step" to the runway I wanted...


...However, The ILS signal was showing strong and I eased over a bit and when they gave me the side-step I was already established...Here I am parked.

BTW I finished my flight planning for the whole RTW yesterday and it works out at 30 legs and 24,567 nms...Adverse weather could change things and crossing the Arctic could be an exciting adventure!

Brilliant screen shots again Peter, glad you had an uneventful flight though once you have completed your RTW trip your a/c will be due for a major service.

I guess when you are ready to cross the Atlantic Iceland might be one of your stop-overs and from there to Canada the crossing could be quite interesting during the winter months.

Yes Nigel, Reykjavic is at the end of a 1074 nms leg from Westerland and precedes a 1149 nms leg across Greenland to Thule Airbase...Headwinds on those legs could run me into problems

Peter : you could split your Norway/Iceland leg with a stop in the Faroes . For Greenland there are also a number of viable additional options such as Konstabel Pynt ( not sure whether that's the correct name - it's on the E coast ) , Narsassuaq ,( Bluie West One) , which might cut your sector lengths down or at least provide viable
alternates

Good idea

The last few transatlantic crossings I've done in propereller aircraft have gone Gander, Narsassuaq, Keflavik then Prestwick. Last time I used the Faroes, I found it a little small Not been there for absolutely ages so I'll have to pop up and have another look
