Nico Rosberg Retires from F1

Post by Nigel H-J »

Just read that he has retired from F1 with immediate effect :-O

Now that leaves some one to fill his seat, any guesses?

I hope that Jenson Button will consider it should he be approached for he is a very good competitive and able driver.

Merc will promote a junior driver. Pascal Wehrlein probably. I bet they wished he told them earlier - and I bet Nico Hulkenberg does too!

Rosberg is a very fine driver and I will miss him. He is not quite as fast as Lewis but Mercedes will find it very hard to replace him...I don't think any of them are as good as Rosberg.

Interesting. I think on paper he probably sat comfortably outside the top 5 naturally talented drivers in F1 for several seasons. I think the machinery flattered his talent a little whilst you have other "poorer" and less well connected drivers down the back of the grid.

A bit like Damon Hill really: right place, right time, best car/engine package.

On the plus side, now Mercedes have their German World Champion in their "German" (Northants, Germany) car we'll see less of their PR induced rubbish and they can just get on with it. Toto Wolff is becoming the most boring man in F1.

Well there are a lot of changes to things next year with more turn G with the wider tyres being an important one. I expect Lewis to still be at the front but I'm not sure that Mercedes will have so many 1,2 wins any more and that may well affect the Manufacturer's Championship.

I bet Rosberg's dad would like the new regs!

I see Damon Hill and Nico have stared a new club. I think there could be a long wait for another member!
