IMO Paypal is MUCH safer than giving your card details to a multitude of sellers which may, or may not store you details, or for that matter have a secure (padlocked) site
Simply set up a card account with Paypal using an account which you don't keep a lot of credit in ( how many of us do that ?) and let paypal pay the seller without them disclosing your details

That was actually my take on Paypal too Dale. Much better to have one site paying vendors anonymously than to have my info bandied around by all and sundry
