Re: Four excellent Trident video clips - Thames Television
Thanks Toby
All very interesting, I also enjoyed looking at the aircraft in the background.
The video 'G-AWZA' describes the Trident as one of the most sophisticated airliners in Europe. It then goes on to say 'we join this BEA airliner on a proving flight to Majorca' and shows a Boeing 727 taking off

Re: Four excellent Trident video clips - Thames Television
Just goes to show journalists weren't much better back then. Technologically, in terms of the blind landing system, triplexed hydraulics etc, the Trident was still more advanced than some rivals. Too small engines and too small a capacity hampered it though, when you consider that the T1/T2 were carrying about as many as an RJ100 carries today and even the T3 was only carrying about as many as EZY squeeze into an A319.
Re: Four excellent Trident video clips - Thames Television
I agree, if BEA had ordered them with increased seating capacity with the engines to go with it then it might very well have been a world beater.Too small engines and too small a capacity hampered it though
Many thanks for the links, thoroughly enjoyed watching them.
