The background to that shot is deceptive. The Mossie is flying over the grass not the tarmac. At a guess.. I'd estimate he's 10ft or more off the deck. Still mighty low though :-O

There used to be a photo of Percy Blamire holding one of his Gemini props after a low run at Coventry in the late 50's - minus 3" off each tip! Can't find it now!

The company I used to work for once hired an instructor who was not that familiar with complex types (or: retractable undercarriages). They did put him straight into a Piper Arrow to teach the CPL syllabus. From that point on it was a matter of time until...
