New Forum Server
Hi chaps, after another enforced hiatus, I'm back... and first thing is to show the forum some TLC and get it migrated to a new server, and a new version of the forum software.
This is going to be quite a bit of work, so you'll need to bare with me, the old grey cells aren't what they once were. The forum software we use is phpBB 3.0 and we will be moving to php 3.2. There are quite a few differences, and we will be leaning on our feet to some extent. We will try and give as much notice as possible of course, and keep downtime to a minimum, but there will be some features that might not work as expected initially, and even the nice banner we have at the tops of the pages will be unlikely to work at first.
One of the first steps is to disable things called mods. One example will be the software that resizes uploaded images will need to be removed from this forum before we can start the migration process. So you may see some oddities while we are working on the migration.
one feature we hope to implement is HTTPS which will mean that communication between your device and the webserver is secured. I think I've found a way to do this, which will be a nice enhancement.
Anyway, I'll keep you posted as things progress.
All the best,
Ben

Hi Ben. All I can do is to echo the words of gratitude already expressed and to say that hopefully things are on the up for you and your girls. Best wishes EricT
Now at the age where I know I like girls but can't remember why!
Re: New Forum Server
Thanks Guys,
Yes Eric, all sorted thanks. Girls are great. I'll pop you a message later when they're in bed. ☺

All the best with it, Ben, and thanks for your efforts. Much appreciated.
By the way, with the new forum software, am I going to keep getting that pop-up that asks me if I want to receive notifications ? Orbx, Aerosoft and Avsim has it, and despite my best efforts, I've never managed to turn the bloody irritating thing off.

Hi Paul,
Truthfully.... I've no idea. I've never used the latest flavour of it. There will be a lot of nuances that we'll all have to experience together
