White Cliffs of Dover; an appeal for help

Post by spatialpro »

I've got myself wrapped up in a thread over at SOH, concerning scenery for the White Cliffs of Dover:

As you'll see, many moons ago I had a stab at making scenery for such, with mixed results:

As I said on the SOH thread I'd be willing and able to resurrect this project by creating a proper 3D model, BUT it would require a (free) trip along the cliffs either by boat or by flying low in a GA aircraft. It occurred to me that there may be some here who are either boat or aircraft owners, or know others who are, who might be up for such a venture... If you're interested please let me know...

All the best

Andy

Great project. ;)
Have you thought about using a drone?

Andy has a commercial drone ticket Mike but to cover then entire cliffs would be a daunting task and require many batteries and quite some time to complete.

Spot on DaveB.

An alternative would be a local drone user with loads of time on their hands and willing to follow direction (it has to be captured in a certain way)...

If it were local I'd be doing this already, but besides a tank of petrol to get me there and back for a single day trip (e.g. to hop on a boat or jump in a Cessna) I'm not really up for sinking cash into this. I reckon if I did the drone work myself I'd need to commit a couple/few days to it, which means lodgings and food etc for at least one or two nights.

Sorry, Andy,
They reckon that a little bit of information is dangerous.
Here am I with none!
