My only tenuous connection, other than residing in the same country as him (Switzerland) is that I believe my grandfather once [helped?] fixed his teeth at the Royal Dental Hospital in London after some incident back in the 1970s.

If you've ever seen an interview of him, he was a true gentleman and entertaining with his humour and stories too. His was the most suave Bond and delivered a certain level of humour that the others didn't carry off so well.

Great story. I grew up with the Moore 007 films, so he was always my favorite Bond. He was a bit campy in the role, but that suited my pre-adolescent mentality just fine. Still does, for that matter! He will be missed...

Good point, I'd never noticed that - flying towards the soliders, the lading gear are down and flying away from them, suddenly they are retracted!
