What a very elegant piece of kit .I don't remember seeing such a beautiful looking American locomotive before . A shame that they don't appear to be steaming it at the moment, or are my eyes deceiving me ?
844 is out and about, the first video is from 2 weeks ago when they went to Wichita. Today they steamed to Council Bluffs (just across the river from Omaha, NE), and sometime this weekend she will steam back to Cheyenne. 4014 is being rebuilt, and 3985 is in storage awaiting a boiler overhaul. 4014 should be done in 2019 and the 3985 should return a year or so after that. The reason for the delay is that 4014 is allowing UP to develop some lost techniques on a larger scale that can then be applied to the 3985 more effectively. The 3985 last steamed in 2010, so it's not been dormant for long.

Also, I will note there are at least a dozen mainline-certified, operational steam locomotives in the United States right now. Unfortunately, I've not found any good list of which ones are, only complete listings that show all the surviving steam locomotives.

Loved the videos, Joe! Something off on ol' 767? *-) One of the drive rods appears to be a newly manufactured part...I think. :$

You had it right off .. it's 765 renumbered to 767.

Yes indeed :agree: . Sometimes its engine stops and the lights go out for no apparent reason - I think it might be haunted. :worried:
