Andy, not sure if I am too late for you on this but had a look around on some reviews (you may have to take some of the reviews with a pinch of salt)
but on this one scroll down to number 4

Or a list of graphic cards reviewed.

Hope this helps.

I used to be an optimist but with age I am now a grumpy old pessimist.
Re: New graphics card
Hi guys,
The fact is FSX is a DX9 program. While some of the hardware improvements in cards will undoubtedly have a performance impact, most if not all of the benchmarks will be testing the cards to get the best performance which will have little meaning in a DirectX 9 program.

Well, there you have it, the difference between a Guru and me.
Ben speaks as though we know the ramifications of FSX being a DX9 programme.

Re: New graphics card
DirectX is what the game developers used to write FSX and govern how it works with the hardware. FSX is a DX9 game. DX9 was release for Windows XP, and while quite revolutionary in its day, is incredibly inefficient by todays standards. The last update for DirectX 9 was 2008, with DX9c.

What I'm saying is that the performance of todays graphics cards are tested typically using DirectX 12 games or tools, which are much more efficient. So a benchmark figure may not represent any performance gain at all when running an old game like FSX or FS9.
Basically, with FSX and FS9 buying a £1000 graphics card may not actually be any better that a £150 card.

Re: New graphics card
Oh ******* (expletive deleted!)
I know that what I really need is new internals for my PC but the budget just ain't there. I get the feeling that spending £130+ on a new graphics card will do little more than deplete my bank account. Hmmm, maybe I need to rethink things.
Thanks for all your advice guys

You've scored a bargain here, Andy!
Who else would have saved you a couple of hundred quid without charging 300 for the advice?
