Brian Withers' video of the Shackleton Newark Air Museum

Just browsing You Tube and came across a new video about the Newark Air Museum Shackleton with Brian Withers.

Many of you will know Brian as he has supported quite a few aircraft produced here though not seen him on this Forum for quite some time.

I last met Brian during the Open Cockpit week-end at Newark many years ago, a fantastic chap who loves nothing more than talking about the Shackleton as he used to fly them, one think that did strike me about Brian was how tall he was, I felt rather like a midget against him!!

Also another video again where Brian talks about the Shackleton and also the Nimrod.

Very good videos - well worth a watch. Brian's guided tour of the Shackleton Mk.3's interior is quite an eye opener. I also liked his rather wry comments, such as the navigator clutching at straws, and having a lie down in the nose of the Shackleton if one had had 'a heavy night' previously. I wonder if he knew my god-parents - they were based at St Mawgan around the same time.

Thanks Nigel. I remember Blue Silk from my RAF apprentice radar tech days. It displayed groundspeed by neons above the drift indicator (you can just see them). The more complicated version on the Canberra was Green Satin but had better G/S readouts via a dial.

Good to see ASV 21 too. it gave me my first serious electric shock at 1000 volts. Last time I played with these radars was 1973!
