In breaking news....

Did you miss me? NO? :-O

Actually saved some money lately:
Washing machine died about the same time as the computer and the electric blanket.
Repair man came and said he would order the part "this afternoon".
No part, no news.....followed him up until I got fed up, and bought the new control panel direct from Fisher & Paykel. Rang Friday afternoon, received the part Monday morning. :excited: It cost $169.50, not the $250.00 advised by the repair man. Fitted it, and the machine worked again, though the noise which had been developing, got worse. Checked the parts manual and priced the replacement bearings from F&P. They wanted $75 plus freight. Rang a bearing supplier in Ballarat with the SKF number....$18.00 the pair.
Fitted them yesterday, so we have a quiet machine again. :) <--smug
Cheers, Mike.

It's odd how things all go at the same time. October was Small Kitchen Appliance month in our humble hovel. We replaced, kettle, coffee pod machine, other coffee percolator, toaster, microwave (hardly a small appliance) and vacuum cleaner (not strictly kitchen either nor cheap).
And I don't hold with what people say about "well you probably bought them all around the same time" -- we didn't.
So I am poor this month. Oh! And the dog got his shots too. :cpu:

Welcome back Mike, you were missed.

Hope the total repair bills were not too painful.

ELECTRIC BLANKET! I thought Oz was the land of constant sunshine and warmth and that Aussies were a tough bunch of dudes!
Glad to see you back Mike. Sods law dictates that breakdowns never happen in isolation. Hope all is ok for a good while now. :agree: EricT

Hiya Mike, glad to see you post again. :hello:

Funny innit, the way repairers tell you how much an item costs yet can be purchased a lot cheaper if you know where to shop. Guess it's time to call a halt on the inflated prices they quote!!

Regards
Nigel.

Welcome back Mike! Good to hear that you got the washing machine fixed and at a fairly reasonable price. Well done!

I'm a bit concerned about the electric blanket also. That's not the image of Oz I've got in my head. Mind you the electric blanket might just be something used to get the home brew started.

Electric blanket could be of use in zapping the spiders?
