On the theme of modifications it is only a pity that the self sealing fuel tanks were not made available during the Battle of Britain which would have ultimately saved many pilots from horrific burns.
I think even Tom Neil in his book 'Gun Button to Fire' made a reference about wishing that self sealing tanks were fitted when flying during the Battle of Britain.
