Came across this on BBC Sport F1.
No social distancing in those days, nor safety barriers, p*ss-pot helmets and no seat belts, pits were on the track and refuelling by canister only, hay bales sidetrack protection for cars and spectators with no protection from cars!! All jolly good fun in those days old boy!

It's a good thing that the King and Queen were able to weave their way through the 30 mile traffic jam and actually see the race.

My Mother was there : it took them nearly 4 hours to get away at the end
Sad to think that within 2 years both the King and John Cobb would be dead
